Empty Kitchens Full Hearts is an initiative that rescues surplus food and turns it into free, healthy meals for people in need. The goals of the charity are to prevent hunger, restore health and wellbeing, and help people out of poverty for good. The team supports more than 1,200 people in poverty every year.
Nutritious meals are freshly prepared, delivered directly to people’s homes, temporary accommodation or local collection hubs. This meal provision is combined with regular wellbeing calls and signposting/referrals to further tailored services.
The Weir Charitable Trust was delighted to support Empty Kitchens Full Hearts with an award to contribute towards the core running costs for the running of the meals and wellbeing services.
