South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital

South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital rescues injured or orphaned wildlife and cares for them until they can be released back into the wild. The charity also gives educational talks to schools and adult groups. Despite COVID-19 restrictions the hospital remained open and was busier than ever with the Manager and volunteers hand rearing, caring and treating the 300+ patients in their care.

Recognising the impact that the charity was making on the advancement of animal welfare and their education programme, the Trust made an award to contribute towards salary costs, vet fees and food for the animals in their care.

In these difficult times the generosity of The Weir Charitable Trust enabled our charity to continue with its vital work, saving the lives of many native animals and birds.”
